For more than 85 years, we’ve been at the forefront of driving forward diabetes research. We improve lives by funding pioneering research into all forms of diabetes and its complications, and ensure diabetes research in the UK focuses on what matters most to people living with or at risk of diabetes.
We fund project grants to UK researchers to undertake basic, translational, and clinical research. We help talented scientists and healthcare professionals develop into diabetes research leaders of the future through our PhD studentships and fellowships. We make targeted investments to support research in underfunded areas where there are gaps or opportunities. And we fund research collaboratively with other charities and funding partners.
We are a proud partner in the Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge, a £50 million partnership with the Steve Morgan Foundation and Breakthrough T1D in the UK. Through this initiative, we are funding translational research with the potential to accelerate new treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes.
