Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) Research is the only charity in the UK dedicated to improving the health of children and adults with PCD by funding potentially curative research and advocating for evidence-based treatment. The organisation's mission is to save lives and enhance outcomes for people with PCD through groundbreaking research, raising awareness, and improving standards of care.
PCD is a condition caused by inherited motile or non-motile ciliary dysfunction. The organisation focuses on funding and supporting both pure scientific and applied/translational research to better understand these inherited ciliopathies. Additionally, PCD Research advocates for effective care regimes and therapies, amplifies the patient voice to ensure research and treatments align with the lived experiences of those affected, and actively raises awareness about PCD and related conditions.
PCD Research envisions a world where being born with PCD no longer means carrying a lifelong burden of disease, ensuring individuals with PCD can look forward to long and healthy lives.
