Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s largest funder of prostate cancer research

Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s largest funder of prostate cancer research. With a research strategy that spans the entire prostate cancer disease landscape, we fund academic research across the UK that aims to improve how we diagnose prostate cancer, and how we treat both localised and metastatic disease. Predominantly through ourthree regular annual schemes we fund approximately £10m of research annually, covering the full translational spectrum from discovery research right through to directly-funded clinical trials. In addition to those regular funding schemes we also make exceptional investments in targeted areas. During the current strategy cycle our focus has been on funding a large clinical trial and associated programme of research designed to revolutionise how we diagnose prostate cancer and to build the evidence that allows us to introduce a screening programme –TRANSFORM.

As well as funding academic-led translational research we also have a strong history of working with companies in the UK and abroad: through spin outs based on foreground IP created by our grants; as licensors of that IP; as partners in academic research funded by Prostate Cancer UK grants that add value to company background IP; and by sharing expertise and horizon scanning to ensure all parties involved in prostate cancer research deliver maximum benefit to men as quickly as possible.

Prostate Cancer UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (1005541) and in Scotland (SC039332). Registered company 02653887.
