A revolutionary diagnostic tool, lighting up ultrasound images with contrast and utilizing Ai to identify tumours.

Investment Details

Less Grey Imaging (LGI) is a biotech spin out from Herriot Watt university, ushering in a new era in diagnostic ultrasound imaging, delivering up to a 20-fold increase in image resolution. Super-Resolution Ultrasound Imaging (SRI) has promise to dramatically improve current prostate cancer diagnosis, enable earlier and more accurate disease detection and monitoring, reducing related mortality and unnecessary intervention.

The technology combines existing ultrasound equipment and contrast agent alongside a novel analysis software, to clearly visualise the tumours through their blood vessel network. In conjunction with the contrast ultrasound images produced, Less Grey analysis software is able to identify the structure, size and flow dynamics of the blood vessels, all markers of cancer pathophysiology, creating colourful ‘maps’ of the prostate. These maps allow for quick identification of tumours. Further improving speed and accuracy of diagnosis is the use of Machine learning to triage the images to identify those requiring a biopsy, reducing burden on medical staff and decreasing wait time for patients.

They have promising preclinical data with 94% of tumours being correctly identified by clinicians untrained using the LGI software. The company is currently looking to raise investment in Q2 2025, to facilitate a Phase II clinical trial.
