For the last 20 years, The Eve Appeal has focused on finding methods of risk prediction, prevention, better diagnosis and early detection of the five gynaecological cancers: womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal. Prediction, prevention, better diagnosis and early detection are underfunded, with the majority of cancer research funding supporting new treatment discovery. Evidence shows that improving diagnosis and prevention will save more lives.
We aim to increase awareness around hereditary risks, broaden the scope of genetic testing, and learn more about the role the HPV virus plays in cancer development, so that more people can understand their risk and take steps to prevent cancer from developing.
We are also here to provide expert, evidence-based, engaging information for a range of audiences on gynaecological symptoms and risk factors. Our aim is to ensure that everyone at risk of these diseases has access to the information they need to look after their health.
We will work across patient, clinical and policy audiences to communicate health information and research findings, influence clinical pathways and change policy, wherever it will improve early diagnosis and prevention.
